BACKGROUND 

International Mathematics Convention 2013 is the first international level program to be held in University Malaysia Terengganu specifically for students who studying in Bachelors, Master and PhD level in Mathematics. It is going to discuss the direction of mathematics education for students to choose after completing their studies in university. 

Besides strengthen the friendship between students, the program also incorporates ancillary contests such as 'Burumatik', 'Senimatik' and Olympiad. This convention exposes students with the field of researches and Mathematics expertise in Malaysia and other countries.

WHAT IS “SENIMATIK”

“Senimatik” or “Mathematics Arts” is a way of fostering creativities and communication skills by expressing the art of mathematics knowledge in everyday life into stage performance. A group of performers collectively will come out with their idea on how to express their knowledge of mathematics been learn before. It can be storytelling, songs, poems or even musical theatre. Every performance should be embedded with positive messages and moral stories.

WHAT IS “BURUMATIK” ?

“Burumatik” or “Mathematics Hunts” is an outdoor activity involving players to solve a few simple mathematics problems or questions. Questions prepared are allocated at every checkpoint under supervision of a facilitator. Every group will be given an envelope containing a statement to direct them to the next checkpoint stations. Statements are either clues or hints to be solved. The game should be played inside the selected compound only. Players are the hunters that hunt mathematics questions they need to be solved. Every question should to be solved by group. The questions are at the undergraduate level. Answer sheets then will be check by selected authorized mathematics lecturers. 

WHAT IS OLYMPIAD?

Olympiad is a competition of solving higher order mathematics questions and problems. A set of questions will be drafted by a group of panelists according to the common level of age or university mathematics syllabus. Two (2) hours given to all candidates in the examination period. Answer sheet will be marked by all the escort lecturers of every university involved in front of the panelists. Candidate with the highest point collected will be considered as the winner.
